How I Make Worklife Easier

How I Make Worklife Easier | Anne's Scribbles and Doodles
Adulting is no joke. Whoever said that turning twenty-something meant the era of "having things figured out" was definitely on a daze. Mad Hatter crazy if you ask me! No wonder Peter Pan ran off to Neverland! But don't get me wrong. I like my days productive and I always find myself looking for something to do but then again there are times when stress becomes a wee bit too much to bear.

Fresh out from college, I've gone corporate for over a year while juggling writing projects on the side. I also do layout and design, several freelance gigs and manage a little baking business with my sister. Oh and of course, I blog too. I like the thrill of accomplishing things and seeing the fruits of my labor but I can't help but see stress come a-knocking. Sometimes, it even goes on a barrage and tears the doors off of its hinges! So in order to keep my sanity, I incorporated some routines and practices to make worklife easier and lessen the stress that comes with it. Take a look for yourself. These tips might come in handy for you too!

Time management is very important. You need to be able to efficiently allocate your time and make sure that you don't spread yourself way too thin. This makes planners, notepads, to-do lists and those nifty calendar apps really handy. Schedule your work and do your best to stick by them. This should help you avoid missing deadlines and overlooking tasks. Remember though that each person is different so you need to find a system that works for you. On that note, check out these cute and functional planners: 1, 2, 3.

We all need to fuel up, several times a day even. Start with a hearty breakfast. It is after all, the most important meal of the day. Make it a point to eat clean and healthy too not just to keep your figure but more so to keep yourself healthy and energized throughout the day. It won't hurt to grab your comfort food either but just like everything else, keep it in moderation.
Commute Wisely | Anne's Scribbles and Doodles
One of the major stress factors that we face everyday is traffic. Admit it. It can turn you into a Godzilla, literally and figuratively. To lessen or better yet avoid it, be a smart commuter. Study and observe the traffic tendencies in your area and in the routes that you frequent. Travel earlier (or later) to avoid the rush hour as much as you can. We don't want a Hunger Games moment, now do we? For this, I also find that using specific apps can ease the burden of daily commute. Personally, I use Google Maps and Waze to check on routes and traffic situations as well as Sakay.ph for suggested public utility rides.
Take a Breather | Anne's Scribbles and Doodles
As the 80s would have it, take a chill pill. We all need to hit that pause button every once in a while or else we'd go bonkers in just a matter of years. We are after all no robots. This is why scheduling short breaks throughout the day is necessary. Don't overdo it though or your boss will give you the death glare. Relaxing will also do you wonders as it resets your brain so go watch a movie on your days off. Take a leave and travel. Read that book you've been eyeing for weeks. Go on a date with your SO. Whatever your definition of a breather is, go do it!

Keep  hydrated. With our country's intense and very bipolar weather, you can go from chilly to scorching in a heartbeat. It is important to keep your water levels up or else your cells will die on you so bring your very own water container like this and this handy. Fresh juices, teas and (my personal favorite) coffee are also runners up in this category but in moderation, okay?
Harmonize | Anne's Scribbles and Doodles
Traffic can be terrible but music makes it bearable, enjoyable even. Driving would mean endless and shameless carpool karaokes. If that's too much for you to handle or you take the public transport, you can always put your headphones on and blast your favorite tunes. Before you know it, you've arrived at your destination. Music is also a good way to relax and tickle your brain when stress has eaten up all your creativity. And if your boss and colleagues allow it, playing some tunes can really help liven things up in the office.
Get Moving | Anne's Scribbles and Doodles
I used to be the girl who says she's allergic to exercise. Although I don't go to the gym, I make it a point to schedule in a good sweat. Jogging around your area, biking, taking the stairs (unless you're running late) or even low-key doing household chores can stretch those tired and rigid muscles. It's good for your health too. Plus, exercise decreases cortisol levels or the so-called stress hormones that store fat on your abdominal region, make you grab unhealthy food choices and mess up your mood. It also releases feel good chemicals in your body called endorphins. Yes, exercise makes you happy.
Art Immersion | Anne's Scribbles and Doodles
We all need a creative outlet and unique as we all are, we tend to gravitate towards varying media. Some find museums and art very therapeutic. Others go for literature, writing and music. There too are those who get creative with food, photography and crafts. Go find a vessel and pour into it. This may sound contradicting but trust me, it does wonders.
Hit Snooze | Anne's Scribbles and Doodles
Sleep is essential. We all need around 7-8 hours of slumber a day or else we'd be zombies looking for brains. Lack of enough rest will not only add to your worklife stress but it shall also take its toll on your health. One thing I've learned to do is to stay away from gadgets an hour before sleep time. They're nasty temptations, those things. Creating the right atmosphere also helps just like a glass of milk or tea before bedtime.
Power Up | Anne's Scribbles and Doodles
There are days that no matter the measures you take, stress becomes too big of a monster to handle on your own. When I was a kid, I never drank my vitamins (sorry mom) and I'd often get reprimanded about it. But seeing all the pollution, the bipolar weather, the traffic, the workload and whatnot that we face every single day, we need all the extra amount of armor to ward off diseases like cough, flu and colds. I for one am particularly useless with a runny nose. This is why taking vitamins like FERN-C is essential. Apart from boosting your immunity to make you strong enough to be productive, it also improves your skin's health.
