Mail This To Heaven {Scribbled Poetry}

How do you send greetings to heaven?
Do you roll it up and tie it to a balloon?
Or do you whisper it to the air and let it fly?
I want to know because I want to send some to you.

I wonder if my thoughts and feelings can be heard.
Amidst the busy streets, will they echo?
I wish to send my "I miss you's" and "I love you's".
I hope they float to the clouds and reach you.

It's your special day today and I want to hug you.
I miss making those artsy cards and short clips.
How will you taste my baked goodies and dessert treats?
I bet you've got a feast going on up there so that's okay.

I wish to send you my love, dearest Papa.
I shall close my eyes and let sleep come by.
I'll see you in my dreams I hope.
And bring you cakes and cards and balloons to hold.

Happy birthday and I hope the breeze delivers my warm wishes.

I wrote this poem last Tuesday as I was waiting for sleep to come by. It was my dad's birthday and I miss him terribly. I am however glad that even with his short stay on Earth, he was able to touch so many lives including mine. He was one of my biggest inspirations and I will forever be indebted to him. It's my first year with him gone but I know that somehow my mail got delivered to heaven.

ABOUT "SCRIBBLED POETRY"
I make up stories in my head. I'm a dreamer and sometimes perhaps a lunatic. Writing keeps me sane and while I'm no New York Times Best Seller (yet), I'd love to call myself an author. This blog serves as my digital manuscript. I've kept countless poems, stories and whimsical thoughts for years but never got to share them publicly for fear that people would steal them and take the credit. (Which someone already did by the way! If you're planning to do the same then scoot. I can track you down like a bloodhound.) But it would likewise be a pain to keep them for myself. I'd love for people to enjoy them as I did writing them. Scribbled Poetry is a compilation of poems that often demonstrate my preference for rhymes. — Anne Macachor

Anne, this is such a beautiful poem. It is whimsical, and heart-wrenching at the same time, and it made me tear up (which is a fairly rare thing).
I'm sure those words will have reached your father, and in their own way, they are a hug.

your poem is so pure and exquisite, each word has so much meaning. I loved it! you are so brave and strong. when i'm having a rough time, writing really helps me because I can get out words on paper that I couldn't out loud. so when you feel down, just remember the power your own words can have over you. xx

I started my blog a couple days ago, mind taking a peek? wwritingg.blogspot. com

Thank you so much Harek! I agree with you right there. Sometimes I do express better in paper what I can't do so out loud.
