I should be sleeping as I type this in but I got caught up in a heavy daze of wanderlust. I have always wanted to travel and see the world unfold before my very eyes. There's a certain charm and magic to it that's simply hard to define. I believe there's no adjective good enough to describe the enchantment that it brings. It's like waking up to a beautiful sunrise with the smell of brewed coffee and pancakes in the air combined with this feeling of home fused with a sense of adventure for something exciting and unknown. You see,
I want to make memories all over the world. It's a vow that I have taken upon myself.
But my sense of wanderlust can be quite different compared to others. I believe that I'm an old soul lost in a digital jungle. Truth be told, the charm of old cities and architecture enchant me. I consider nature and the stars as the best escape I'd ever get. I would still love to see all those skyscrapers and modern installations all over the globe especially if they involve theme parks and roller coasters but if I were made to choose, I'd always go on a trip that gets me as close to nature as possible. So it would totally make sense if glamping in Europe forms part of my travel bucket list and I happen to come across two of the best places that'll make that dream come to life.
#1: The Mercedes Surf Bus
(De Woude, North Holland, Netherlands)
Neatly tucked away in the rich countryside, this vibrant 30 year old 7 meter long classic Mercedes Surf Van would be the perfect place to spend some much needed relaxation away from the hustles and bustles of the busy metropolis. Imagine campfires,
s'mores, star gazing and endless giggles with your besties with the comfort of cozy beds and colorful pillows! Although one cannot drive the van away from the campsite, I find that to be less of a bummer given its proximity to lake Alkmaardermeer. You can swim in the lake or even rent out canoes! A five minute drive away from the camp would even bring you to the middle of old Holland where one can find vast tulip fields and windmills. The famous cheese market of Alkmaar is only twenty minutes away while a thirty minute drive brings you to Amsterdam or the North Sea!
#2: Rosie Gypsy Wagon
(Saint Keverne, Cornwall, United Kingdom)
This Rosie Gyspsy Wagon in the UK screams fairy tale to me. You can wake up and say hello to cows in the morning and see birds glide across the sky as you listen to the waves lapping by the nearby Porthallow beach. At night, you can sit by an open fire and stare at the stars with hotdogs on one hand and marshmallows on the other. I wouldn't mind Prince Charming whisking me away to this magical place. I dare say this is the perfect romantic getaway. Alas, I think Prince Charming got stuck on a tree or something. Now I have to go and save the poor guy's ass. I ain't the damsel in distress in this story. Nope!
