Wagging tails. Furry paws. Gentle eyes. Ready to go giddy all over? Pets are my absolute weakness, perhaps next to ice cream. When my best friends from Cebu came over to visit, I gave them quite a tour. As we traveled back to the city after a day trip in Tagaytay, we decided to rest and relax at this pet cafe we spotted in Cubao: Bengal Brew + Wolf and Bear Cafe.
It was around 8:00 pm and there was barely anyone inside much to our delight. Not surprising as it was a Monday. We were still full from dinner so we decided to opt for coffee. For ₱299, you get to pick a drink and spend an hour with both the dogs and cats. If you want to spend it with either, then you'll only pay for ₱199. The other menu offerings are priced separately. You can view the list and prices here.
The cafe provides a separate dining area for customers who only choose to dine. They have glass walls so you could still see through the division. The Bengal Brew Cafe, as the name suggests, is dedicated to the feline species. Upon entering, you'll be asked to sanitize, to remove your shoes and to wear the slippers provided. Bear in mind to bring socks too. Should you forget, you can always purchase from the shop itself.
Asia's Next Top Kitty. That's what this cat is. Look at it smize! Tyra would be so proud.
The space was tastefully decorated. The theme, a marriage between rustic and chic, was consistent all throughout. Sofas and chairs were decked with faux fur pillows and rugs allowing the cats to camouflage. They had enough room to play around as well care of their ceiling bridge/play ground!
The Wolf and Bear Cafe is right next door. In fact, you'll have to pass through the cats to get to the entrance. As we stepped in, we were greeted by two gentle giants who were eager to get their bellies rubbed! Meet Sari the Alaskan Malamute (left) who according to my best friend was getting sleepy because I was rubbing its ears. I'm a dog whisperer, you guys. *wink* The one on the right is Betty, a St. Bernard (if memory serves me right).
This is my bestie Rea and the photobomber at the back is Nymeria another Alaskan Malamute. A little back story here. You see, we took a random selfie not knowing that we've got company! It wasn't until I was transferring files into my computer that I realized we got the money shot.
Wolf and Bear Cafe is divided into two floors. The first story houses the bigger dogs like the Alaskan Malamute, St. Bernard and Newfoundland. The upper floor which carries a log house/cabin theme is where the smaller dogs frolicked. That would be the Pomeranian, Jack Russel Terrier, Coton de Tulear, Bichon Frise and Italian Greyhound. Above, meet Gidget the Teacup Pomeranian! Isn't she cute? Plus, she fits right in the palm of your hands.
Ironically, our photobomber got shy for this snap! Check out Greywind (bottom left) peeking through the fence and right into my heart. LOL. According to his trainer, who by the way was so friendly and answered all my questions, Greywind is pretty playful and a little bit "seloso". I went over to him and played for a while. He's such a sweet dog for a huge breed. I wanted to adopt him right that instant!
Then there's Aldrin the Jack Russell Terrier who was always ready for a photo-shoot. He was also the noisiest of the group, far noisier than the Alaskan Malamutes downstairs. I guess by now, you could tell I'm the dog person. Obvs? My two other besties are certified cat ladies.
I'd just like to add this teeny bit if you don't mind. When we got back home, my dog Bridgette ran up to me as per usual but this time she sniffed me so bad I had to curl to a ball. Ticklish much? She must have sensed I played with tons of other pets. How many? I've lost count. There's honestly more photos where these came from.
Bengal Brew + Wolf and Bear Cafe is located at the Ground Floor, Manhattan Parkview, General Malvar Avenue, Araneta Center Cubao, Quezon City. They're open from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm on Mondays through Thursdays and 11:00 am to 12:00 midnight on Fridays to Sundays. You can contact them at (02)366-8287 or visit their official Facebook page.
