When my relatives saw my plate (above) they gave me "the look" and asked the inevitable question.
Are you on a diet? Of course I wasn't! No way! LOL. Whenever I go to a buffet restaurant I like to have a taste of everything so I get tiny bits of every dish and go back for more. Ever heard of a round 2? or 3? or 4? Okay before I embarrass myself of how big of a foodie I am, allow me to introduce you to a new food hub my relatives in Manila brought me to called
Arariyo Korean Buffet and Restaurant.
Here's a fun fact that I found printed on their place-mats. Arariyo is a part of the lyrics of a popular and well-known Korean traditional song called Arirang. Arariyo means the fuzzy feeling of love.
When we first entered the place I immediately noticed the walls. I'm not sure if it's paint or wallpaper though. Nonetheless, I like it. It feels modern and a little bit traditional at the same time. The interior decors were more on the minimalist side of things but the wall details do make a good contrast. I wish I took more photos though but I was kinda shy. I didn't want to look like an excited photo snapping tourist even if I really am. Ha!
Because Arariyo is first and foremost a buffet resto, the food options are vast! My photos do not even give it justice. My favorite dishes would have to be the spicy tofu and tempura. Don't forget to ask about their special sauce. It's gastronomic!
Years back I wasn't really into sushi, sashimi and relatively new dishes. I guess my palette wasn't as adventurous then but oh my I really enjoyed them this time! But still I'm not very comfortable about eating raw stuff. Maybe someday when my tummy's a little braver, I'll try more!
Shabu-shabu my favorite part! If you haven't tried eating Korean or Japanese food yet then I suggest you try it! Shabu-shabu or Shyabu-shyabu is actually a Japanese dish but it has numerous variations all over Asia like in Korea, China and Thailand.
Oh and who could ever forget dessert? Not me! Arariyo also serves ice cream in loads of flavors and the best part is you can eat as much as you can and dress them up with the various toppings available. Think kisses, candy sprinkles and marshmallows. They've got it all! Have I told you that ice cream is my comfort food?
Meet the lovely bunch who treated me out! My Tita Tatin, her hubby Kuya Tim, brother Brennan and mommy Precy. Oh dear, loads of empty plates. You didn't see them right?
