Bacolod Travel Diary Part 3: Provincial Capitol, Negros Museum, Pasalubong at Pendy's and Merci

Negros Museum
Hi everyone! I know it's been a very long time and this last bit of my Bacolod travel diary has been long overdue. Too many pending posts in so little time. If only time can be purchased, people would probably hoard it from the shelves! In fact, our little trip to the Capitol Park and Lagoon, Provincial Capitol and Negros Museum was done in an hour. Yes an hour! We had no more day offs left and we didn't want to go back to Cebu with only the Mambukal Falls and Calea Pastries and Coffee checked on our list. So we did the only thing we could think of. Lunch break opportunity!
Negros Provincial Capitol
First off we went to the Bacolod Capitol Park and Lagoon. Sadly we looked too haggard, stressed and droopy eyed so I decided not to include photos with our faces on them. I regret to inform you that this post will not contain any zombies. LOL.

Right across the park and lagoon is the Provincial Capitol of Bacolod. I was amazed to see that it closely resembled the one we have in Cebu!

Then as if fate was on our side, the Negros Museum was just behind the Capitol! The entrance fees are as follows: General Admission- Php 50.00, Senior Citizen- Php 40.00 and Children- Php 20.00. We wasted no time and got all touristy.

We found a choo-choo train! "Make way For Noddy. Noddy! He toots his horns to say..." LOL. Do you know this tune from a cartoon way back 2002?

There were so many paintings displayed but this one sure caught my attention. It's entitled "Babaylan". Here a woman who is believed to be possessed by an evil spirit is being attended to by a Babaylan, a Visayan version of a shaman. Creepy!

Something looks weird here... My dear friend Jasmine couldn't help but role play with the three women who sew the Philippine flag: Marcela Agoncillo, Lorenza Agoncillo and Josefina Herbosa de Natividad. Sadly, I know Jas couldn't sew to save her life. Haha. Peace Jas!

I seriously want a vintage phone like this but only if I'm assured that I won't get scary phone calls from those who passed away. Oh gosh what is it with my scary ramblings today? I guess Halloween is getting the best of me. No!!! I hate to admit this but I'm a scardy cat. No horror movies please.

This painting resembles the golden figure by the lagoon. The photo I shot at the beginning of this post was the female version.

Bacolod is famous for its Maskara Festival. We may have not enjoyed the festivities as we wen't there a month before it but at least we got hold of pretty masks! After an hour of being tourists, we went back to being office girls and headed back to work as our lunch break was about to end. Luckily (again) the office was only a two minute ride away. Yipee!

Bacolod Pendy's Pasalubong: Napoleones
A day before we were about to go home, we dropped by a famous pasalubong (delicacies and food souvenir) shop called Pendy's. They are really famous for their pastry called the Napoleones.

Here's a photo to make your mouth water! These taste like heaven. I cannot explain how delicious and heavenly the flavors are as they explode in your mouth. I wanted to kick myself for only buying one box! It was a sure fire hit as I got home. A box of 15 costs Php 210.00 while a box of 10 retails at Php 140.00. They are a must try so see to it that you grab some as you visit Bacolod. They are located at Lacson St Dakbanwa sang Bacolod‎ and can be contacted at (034) 434 0269.

Bacolod Merci Pasalubong
Lastly we dropped by another shop called Merci Pasalubong where I was able to purchase a box full of yummy goodies for everyone back home. Here are the stuff I bought: Special Biscocho, Lengua de Gatto, Bacolod Piyaya, Ube Piyaya, BaƱadas, Caramel Tart, Cheese Tart, Chocolate Barquillitos, Pandan Barquillitos, Vanilla Barquillitos and Ube Barquillitos.

Visit their website if you want to get to know more of their products but if you want my suggestion, definitely grab the special biscocho, caramel and cheese tarts!

Thank you! It's not always happy and grand but enjoying life's blessings certainly makes the ride even better amidst whatever problem.
