1st Blog Birthday and Making Friends Online

As of today this blog is officially one year old! Yipee! *happy dance* It's been exactly 365 days since I started this cyber diary and it has been one amazing ride so far. It's better than any roller coaster I have ever ridden and mind you I love roller coasters to death! (I know many people dislike this particular theme park ride but we all have our preferences. Can we still be friends? I promise I won't force you to ride one. Pinky swear!) First off I would really want to send all of you my cyber hugs and kisses! Thank you so much for embarking on this journey with me and being patient enough to read my random whatsits. Now to celebrate my baby blog's birthday I would like to tell you a little something about one of my best memories as a blogger... making friends online.

It was July 29, 2013 to be exact when I was doing my usual daily dose of fave blog reading. *Add in some YouTube watching and Instagram stalking. Hohoho!* One of the posts I was reading at the time was from a Sprinkle of Glitter by UK based blogger Louise. (If you've been here for a while now then this part may sound a tidbit familiar as I've mentioned part of it here.) She wanted to know more about her readers and asked a couple of questions one of which was "Aside from Sprinkle of Glitter, what is your favourite blog?"

Obviously I made a comment which I honestly already forgot. LOL. Since the comments were swarming by the minute the page buffered a bit and I wasn't sure if my reply was posted or not. To check, I did what I needed to do: Ctrl + F. Please tell me I'm not too nerdy to know what that function is for. Haha. I was expecting to find my response or nothing at all but I was surprised to see something else.

There was this girl named Emma who responded by saying that she enjoys reading my blog. I was so hyped that I print screened it! I wasn't really expecting people to be reading a relatively new blog like mine much less someone who lives from as far as New Zealand. I thought it was only my close friends who do. Her comment came with a link to her blog called The Earth Through a Lens. I commented on one of her posts and told her how happy I was that she appreciated my writing. Since then we have been exchanging emails.

I know many people are afraid to make friends online. I get scared too! You never know if the person on the other line is sincere and is really who they say they are. Sometimes it just takes a little courage, a little push, a dash of magic and some ounce of destiny. I'm happy to say I found a really good friend in her. Even if we haven't met personally (yet), she feels like someone I've known since forever. I get to tell her stuff that I don't get to tell some of my friends and she does the same. We talk about stuff we like such as novels and movies. We chat about how life has been lately and stuff like that.

So I would have to say that she is the best thing that has happened to me on my first year of blogging. *I'm grinning so wide right now I think I look deranged.*

Of course I'm happy to have met all of you my dear readers too! Thank you for all the lovely comments. Thank you for sticking with me and for bearing my often "severely long" chatty posts. This one for example. Thank you for inspiring me to continue doing what I like to do and for making this creative outlet and diary so worthwhile. This has been a source of happiness for me and a really good stress buster.

I LOVE YOU!

PS: I think I overdid the "happy" exclamation points. Oopsies! And oh remember to make friends, online or personally. Be friends with that new kid in school or your neighbor you haven't approached all this time. It'll make you so happy you could poop rainbows. Kidding!  But seriously, go out and make friends...

Thanks Emma! It was so nice to meet you too. I love chatting with you. It's like having a cup of coffee and a piece of cake at a local cafe with a good friend.

I get the feels whenever I read this blogpost! Yes, I am guilty of reading it more than once. :P It's amazing that you have made such a good friend through your blog and it only makes me more excited for what may lie ahead for me. Emma's blog is lovely, too. :)

Hi Minna! I feel so giddy seeing all your comments here. Thank you so much. Yes, blogging is amazing. It connects you to people in ways that might have seemed improbable at first. When there's a blogger you'd want to get to know, don't hesitate to send them an email or connect through their social media. I have met tons of bloggers personally these past few months and it is awesome. Start by saying hi... the rest will follow. :D

Haha as you probably guessed, I'm on a bit of a serial reading session of your blog at the moment. Yours was one of the first blogs I discovered and genuinely loved, so i'm so glad I finally got the time to sit down and have a proper read. Looking forward to more great content :D
