Falling and Flying {Thoughtful Thursday #12}

What if I fall? Oh but my darling what if you fly?
Sometimes you’re not sure what you want in life or where you’re headed to go. It can drive you nuts because for many of us uncertainty is scary. It scares me too. You never know what’s out there but then again your heart longs for something that’s invisible to the naked eye. You aspire more. You begin to dream. You chase happiness. You get ready to fly. However, we can’t help but ask: What if I fall? What if I can’t make it? What if I don’t end up happy after all?

The number of “what if’s” and “what could be’s” are endless. That is one of the biggest lessons that I’ve learned so far. Sometimes the best things in life require you to make the jump. Yes, you can’t see what’s down below. You don’t even know how high the fall might be. Your wings may seem unready but you’ll never know if you don’t take the leap of faith. It takes a lot of courage to dive through what life has in store. It takes guts to face what you don’t know. I am still scared. It still feels uneasy and uncomfortable.

I’ve come across this quote from Erin Hanson quite randomly. “What if I fall? Oh but my darling what if you fly?” That question rang in my ears and it gave me the wakeup call I needed. I like to plan things. I schedule things to the dot as much as I can. I like to organize. I believe it is a good thing and people have been telling me the same too but sometimes it is best to be uncertain. It is okay to get quaint little surprises. It’s okay not to know. It’s okay to let life run its course without you having to always look ahead. We have to live in the present too, not trapped in the past or the future.

So here I am, spreading my wings with my toes as close to the edge as possible. Will I fly or will I fall? I honestly don’t know but I’m ready to take the plunge. Life, surprise me.

Wow! This is one of the best blog post I've read so far today. We're thinking of the same thing but then, we won't be able to see what life has to offer if we don't take the risk. I'm trying to be more open in all the possibilities and opportunities coming to me. I know I can make it and you should think also that you can make it :)

Have a great day, Anne! :)

I absolutely adore this quote! Came across it on another blog just yesterday. So simple, yet so powerful. For some reason I can completely picture the little bird's (the one in the picture) mum encouraging it softly, lol. Have a lovely day!
