Shopee: Women Who Werq It with Camille Co

How do women "werq" it? How do we walk the talk? Females are no doubt multi-hyphenates. We all juggle a lot of roles so others can't help but stare in wonder. Truth be told, we each have our ways just the same as we are all unique. If we do try to look closely however, we'll soon realize that there are common denominators: food and fashion. Who would've guessed it would be so simple? 

You see, we all love a hearty meal especially if its one shared among peers or kindred souls. It's fuel in its simplest sense. Fashion on the other hand is our creative juice. It allows us to freely express ourselves. It's how we showcase our unique personalities, our passions and as I'd like to think, our own personal branding. It's an art form and a means to channel our inner #GirlBoss.

During 2016's last quarter, Shopee invited me and a few others for an evening of good food, shopping and a talk from one of the country's (rather the world's) finest fashion bloggers, Camille Co. Here's what happened.

Myself, Rhob, Kath, Katrin

Excuse my eye bags and my chinkier than usual eyes. My besties from Cebu came to visit and we've been on a "bonding" spree for days on end. On this specific day, I was running on less than 4 hours of sleep as we hopped from Pasig to Taguig to Cubao to Makati. I took almost every mode of transportation possible: tricycle, jeepney, FX and train. Had I taken the bus, we'd hit bingo. LOL. We parted ways by mid-afternoon as they had to fly back to Cebu. After which, I met up with my sister and headed for Trufa Pasta Bar. We were sat together with Kath who happens to be friends with Katrin whom I've met 2 years back during Camille Co's birthday dinner. Small world!

Soon after, the talk began and Camille handed out styling tips and tricks as if it were Christmas morning. I've been following her blog for years and when she invited me to her birthday bash in 2014, I was fangirling like cray. Now imagine my elation when she first walked in the room and recognized me and Katrin! It was really so sweet of her and another reason why I genuinely love her.

The event was held at Trufa Pasta Bar in Makati. Let me start by saying that the food was bomb. They had a make your own pasta concept. I went for Ajillo (olive oil, garlic and red pepper flakes) for the salsa, penne for pasta and cheese for garnishing. The serving was good and really fills you up. They served us the Zumos con Tubo for drinks which was actually freshly pressed sugarcane nectar mixed with a fruit of choice. It was surprisingly good. Of course, there was dessert. A decadent slice of heaven embodied in cakes: Pastel de Mango and Pastel de Chocolate.

Of course, our fashion wits were put to the test. Shopee handed us paper dolls which were particularly reminiscent of the 90's. They challenged us to dress Pixie, their mascot, using the clothes, shoes and accessories provided. The squad consisted of myself, my sister, Kath and Katrin. Our first order of business? Remove all the pieces whose colors would clash with Pixie. Off with their heads (reds and oranges I mean)! Behold our final outputs:

And as luck would have it, we won and were each awarded with Shopee GCs. Quite timely too because I spotted a cute pair of sneakers in one of their featured seller's pop-up stalls!

Time to shop! My sister and I went to town and got 3 sneakers and a dress at the event itself. When we got home, we blasted the Shopee app and added two bags, some GoPro accessories and two pairs of leggings into the pile. The process by far was a breeze. It took the leggings and GoPro accessories some 2-3 days to arrive while the bags took a bit longer because LBC, the courier, unfortunately misrouted the parcel. Luckily, the app had a builtin tracking feature so it wasn't so hard to find out what was happening. Plus, the seller was really kind to religiously give us updates and text us daily. She even sent a freebie for the trouble which wasn't necessary considering that it was the courier's fault. Overall, we're happy campers.
