In a country where it's almost always hot and humid and you can sweat buckets just by literally sitting down for a whole day, I've come to adore the relief that cool fresh water brings. And for a ₱30 entrance fee, you can enjoy this perfect respite alongside a majestic view of the Tamaraw Falls in Puerto Galera. Not bad huh?
As some of you can tell, this wraps up my
Puerto Galera Travel Diary. Amidst, a dying ancient computer that no longer runs a lot of necessary software, I finally managed to churn this up by some miracle. But that's a story for another day. I'd be glad to receive some laptop recommendations though (great for 4k video and photo editing) because I'm a total tech noob. Thanks!
After enjoying tons of sun and sea
(and getting slightly burnt in the process) at
Virgin Island, we continued our tour towards the Tamaraw Falls. As to how it got it's name, I have no clue but I'm guessing that these animals, a species of small rare Philippine buffalo native to swamps of Mindoro Island, came to bathe here in the olden days. What are your theories?
The road to Puerto Galera's Tamaraw Falls is pretty long and winding. It's not one for the faint of heart
(or stomach). My grandma even said it was akin to
"bituka", a Filipino term for intestines because of the dizzying twists and turns. But it was worth it as the trip was decked with the prettiest of views of both the sea and the mountains. That and we got treated to a majestic view of the falls. We took a bath too but the unskilled swimmer that I was, I didn't bother going into the deeper pools. Oh and if you want a massage, I highly recommend letting the water hit your back. It feels divine!
